Elvis Au
Adjunct Professor at the University of Hong and Former Deputy Director of Environmental Protection Department of Hong Kong SAR Government
Prof Elvis Au has over 38 years of experience (including 32 years in the Government) in various environmental, sustainability, energy and climate change fields, as well as smart city development and smart technology application. Prof Elvis Au is a Fellow of both Hong Kong Institution of Engineers and Hong Kong Institute of Planners, and has a strong passion for promoting smart technology application. While serving in the Government, Prof Elvis Au pioneered world-first 3D EIA in 2005, 3D noise mapping for Hong Kong in 2004-7, real-time GIS and smart technology application for environmental enforcement in 2017-20 with a global achievement award for smart technology application, 3D GIS application for environmental planning, and the first 4D Immersive CAVE Automatic Virtual Environment System in the Government. From 2017 to 2020, he participated in the Steering Committee for Government’s Smart City Blueprint 2.0. Prof Elvis Au is the former President of the International Association for Impact Assessment and the former Chairman of the Environmental Division of Hong Kong Institution of Engineers. He was awarded Bronze Bauhinia Star in 2020 by the HKSAR Government.
